No patience for education

They will always say something about the young man that showed up ‘without his ducks in a row’ to work. “Only an idiot would put himself forward without right education and training. He is sure to make a fool of himself!”

The young man doesn’t have time for the critics. He is too busy figuring it out on the go. The master across the river looks on at the young man and sees himself. The blind look at the young man and laugh.

Genius in its infancy looks like stupidity to the lame, and genius to the master.

“Genius is 1 percent inspiration and 99 percent perspiration”

On hard starts

It’s never easy to get started.  That’s because going from zero to one requires a start, a spark. It’s harder to start a spark than continue a fire, but as long as we can start the spark then we can burn the world. Another thing that gets in the way: too much magnesium, too much fuel, not enough striking. We convince ourselves that we need more, more, more. We don’t need more. We need to strike.

Half monkey-mind, half afraid of the truth. The solution to both is to sit down, shut up, and let it all unfold.

We find that the whole thing was a fools errand anyway. Starting should be no harder than seeing.

If you’re having a hard time starting, then take ten steps back, and ask yourself the basic questions.

  • What do I want?
  • Who am I?
  • Why am I here?
  • What’s the point?

I have my answers, and it has made all the difference. I am free to do whatever I want, because I know what I want. Action is as easy as seeing.

I used to be quiet, now I talk too much

It’s hard to show up and write when it’s all been written. Sometimes you feel like it’s all been done. No matter. Say it anyway. Someone out there needs to hear it from you. Even though it’s all so simple, it must be said. Everything becomes a note-to-self for the real expert. No matter. Say it anyway.

No walking allowed.

A big problem: You’re not pushing the boundaries of what you could do. That doesn’t mean clawing your way to the top, it means exploring for the sake of exploring. “Why does the batter run to first? Because he must.” It’s the game. It’s the nature of things to evolve, so evolve. It requires something you might not be giving, though.

We all have an idea of ourselves in our mind. We all have an idea in our head of who we will be, 100 miles away. We inch forward.

Stop fuckin around, get in the car, and drive.

There’s something more to you, and the world needs it.

Mario’s tornado flute

We get into thinking that we will stay at this level forever, or at least a long time. The fact is, we are more than ready to ‘level up.’ And here’s the cool part: we can skip levels (like Mario). The more focus we put into this level, the more levels we can skip in the future. That means investing in the long term, without fail, and without anyone telling you to. Invest in the things that compound over time: reading, writing, logic, speaking, coding, and the market.

Whoever goes above and beyond with the little things now will be far better off later. This is the core of what it means to invest ‘pennies’ to make fortunes.

Little actions now will launch you worlds forward later.
